The group helped, as usual, to make new international students feel welcome and at home in Bristol – by cooking an evening meal for them at BISC (Bristol International Student Centre)! This year we enjoyed using the new extension at BISC, and served 160 meals (choice of 5 mains, and two puddings, with salad, of course) with great ease!
Welcome to Jie (also known as Jay!), who has just joined the FRG as a one-year China Scholarship Council (CSC)-sponsored visitor. Jie is from the Xi’an Jiaotong University, from the same group that Wei, and Jiangtao before her, came as visitors. It is great to continue to develop links between these groups!
Christian, a BCFN PhD student in the group (jointly supervised by Jonathan Rossiter from the the robotics CDT, FARSCOPE, and Charl), won a poster prize at the recent INASCON’17 conference, held here in Bristol. This international nanoscience conference is organised by students, for students! Christian was one of four prize winners – well done Christian!
Here Christian is explaining his poster to Dr Ian Lindsay from the BCFN!
