Xue was born in Shanghai. From 2015–2019, she studied Chemistry (BSc) as major at ShanghaiTech University, and minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Her undergraduate thesis was based on single crystalline MAPbI3 perovskite solar cell devices. Xue visited the Università di Padova and University of California, Berkeley for summer sessions in 2016 and 2017. In late 2018, Xue started an internship in R&D of Shanghai Jahwa United Co., Ltd. as an assistant cosmetic formulation chemist. Later, she joined the Quality Management System (Quality China) program as the project assistant in School of Entrepreneurship and Management, ShanghaiTech. Since she graduated in June 2019, Xue is in charge of the ShanghaiTech Alumni Association (Europe Branch).
In September 2019, Xue joined Prof. Charl Faul’s research group in the University of Bristol and started an MSc by Research in Chemistry, focusing on tetra(aniline)-substituted perylene diimide supramolecular polymers. In November 2020, Xue returned to Prof Faul’s group as a PhD student in chemistry, funded by Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC)-University of Bristol (UOB) joint scholarship.
Xue became a postgraduate ambassador of University of Bristol soon after arriving in the UK. In her spare time, Xue enjoys travelling, painting and practicing taekwondo.
