Maxi was born in Dülmen, Germany. In 2017, he obtained his BSc in Chemistry, and did his thesis work in the group of Prof. Hahn with the title “Orthometalated Heterobimetallic Complexes with a symmetrical Di-NHC Ligand”. He then continued and obtained his MSc in Chemistry in 2019, performing his thesis research project in the Group of Dr. Junker, also at the University of Münster (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster). The topic of his master research project was the synthesis of polymer dots for cancer detection. During his master he did an Erasmus internship on the synthesis and characterisation of corannulene-based supramolecular polymers in the group of Prof. Faul at the University of Bristol, England, UK
Maxi re-joined the Faul Research group in November 2019 as a PhD student. His work will focus on controlling functionality and self-assembly of PDI-based supramolecular polymers by targeted chemical modification under the supervision of Prof Charl Faul.
