Basiram was born in a small village of Assam, India. In 2018, he completed Integrated MSc in chemistry from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, India, with a thesis on asymmetric catalysis. He undertook a summer internship on synthesis and characterisation of copper (Cu) and cadmium (Cd) doped tin oxide (SnO₂) nanoparticles at National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya, India.

Basiram was a recipient of the prestigious National Overseas Scholarship of India. He joined Faul Research Group at the University of Bristol, UK in May 2019 as a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Charl F. J. Faul. His work focuses on novel porous materials for carbon dioxide (CO₂) capture and conversion.

In his free time, he enjoys cricketing (a true gentleman’s sport), cooking, and travelling.
