Basiram was born in a small village of Assam, India. In 2018, he completed Integrated MSc in chemistry from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, India, with a thesis on asymmetric catalysis. He undertook a summer internship on synthesis and characterisation of copper (Cu) and cadmium (Cd) doped tin oxide (SnO2) nanoparticles at National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya, India.
Basiram was a recipient of the prestigious National Overseas Scholarship of India. He joined Faul Research Group at the University of Bristol, UK in May 2019 as a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Charl F. J. Faul. His work focuses on novel porous materials for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and conversion.
In his free time, he enjoys cricketing (a true gentleman’s sport), cooking, and travelling.
