Junru Chen was born in Henan in China. He graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) in 2021, with a double bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, from NWPU and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). He then obtained a MSc in Polymer Chemistry in Warwick University in 2022, where he worked on polymer synthesis and emulsion hydrogels.
In October 2024, he joined the Faul Research Group and is funded by a CSC/UoB scholarship. Currently, he is working on bio-adhesive materials for use with implantable artificial muscles (emPOWER project) and broader surgical applications.
He enjoys playing badminton and watching movies in his spare time.
