John graduated with first class degree in chemistry from the University of Leeds before joining the 2020 cohort of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Composites Science, Engineering and Manufacturing (CoSEM) at the University of Bristol after being inspired by various materials courses completed during his undergraduate.
His project, supervised by Professor Charl FJ Faul and Professor Valeska Ting, focusses on the development of functional nanocomposites for hydrogen storage applications using conjugated microporous polymers.
Outside of the lab, John is a hobbyist mechanic, tabletop enthusiast, music enjoyer, festivalgoer and particularly enjoys eating breakfast out.
